• BMW unveiled its latest version of its concept car called the i Vision Dee at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show.
• It’s full of the kind of wild features that concept cars are known for, and even some that are cartoon-like.
• There’s color-changing E-Ink panels, facial expressions using the headlights and grill, and the car can even welcome you with an avatar in the window when you approach.

BMW said that the i Vision Dee is a futuristic interpretation of its classic sporty sedan that’s designed for simplicity and functionality. The Head-Up display is controlled using the BMW Mixed Reality Slider, the main operating system of the car. Drivers can select how much information they want displayed by touching the sensors on the cockpit panel.By sliding your finger across the sensor panel, drivers can curate what information they want to see projected onto the windshield.

Using the controls on the panel, drivers can select up to five windshield displays, from driving-related information all the way to graphics that cover the car’s surroundings to “gradually fade out reality.” BMW did not say whether it’ll work while the car is in motion.By adjusting the car’s sensor panels, drivers can choose to display a mixed reality simulation through the windows.

Reminiscent of Pixar’s “Cars,” the vehicle’s headlights and kidney grille can express nine different facial expressions — from joy to awe — using various combinations of light, graphics, and sounds.BMW i Vision Dee headlights

The i Vision Dee can also talk to the driver and will automatically open its doors as the driver gets closer. The car’s many motion sensors make these functions possible.The i Vision Dee can automatically open doors and speak to welcome the driver.

The driver can even choose a digital avatar that will be projected on the car’s side windows as the vehicle welcomes one for a ride.The i Vision Dee can display an avatar that looks like the driver as part of its greetings.

Drivers can customize the car even further thanks to BMW’s latest version of its E Ink technology. Built-in e-ink panels can display and mix-and-match up to 32 colors across the car’s body and wheels.The i Vision Dee contains BMW’s E INK technology that can change the color of the car.
